February open mics post-mortem

I managed to perform at 4 open mics in February. Unfortunately one of the gigs I had booked in was cancelled, but that still takes me up to 20 open mics in total.

The two most notable gigs were the White Bear comedy in Bristol, I did alright. Because I’ve heard of this gig I had been building it up in my head quite a bit, but on the night it was a student reading week so the audience was smaller than usual. The organiser was really cool though, and there was a good mix of acts on. Upon further research it looks like I went up 3rd after two professional comedians! So I think that did throw my perspective of how well I did.

My favourite gig though was the Common room in Gloucester. There were 10 people in the pub (and a dog) and my material seemed to go down much better with the slightly older crowd. Here’s some of the newer jokes that I’ve added to my set.

The Common Room, Gloucester

I was planning to take a month off in March to do some writing, but I’ve already booked myself a spot at the Laughter Lab on Sunday. And I’m kind of tempted to see if I can get on a few more gigs in Bristol in March.
