Comedy Update April 2024

Due to various health issues, Christmas chaos and the useless rail network I’ve lost count of what gig I’m on. My guess is I’ve made it to 70. So I’m making an Executive Decision, I’m on 70.

I had a good run of gigs recently so I was due a bad one, and it was all my own fault. I made the two big mistakes that I always make, trying out new material when it wasn’t ready. And not doing enough rehearsal. So it’s a timely reminder not to do that again.

I’ve got two new bits I’m working on at the moment, A bit where I talk about my daughter changing her name. Here’s a video below of the second time I performed it. I missed out a few jokes but I’m pretty pleased to have new material that seems to work.

And I’m also working on a new bit about the first (only!) time I took drugs. It has potential but it needs lots of work as some of the ‘jokes’ fell flat. I’ll be glad to have material that’s not about my daughter, as I don’t want to be too one dimensional.

May has two gigs booked so far, in Bath and Bristol, so hopefully a cheaper month. I might try and squeeze one more in. But they key is to rehearse before my first one on May 9th, and hopefully write some new jokes.
