April open mics post-mortem

Laughter Lab – 2nd April (24th Gig)

This is the third time I’ve done this open mic and it’s always a good one to get on. A medium sized crowd, mostly other comedians but enough people who are engaged enough to get an idea if something is working or not. I did my first full run through of the Lesbian ‘coming-out’ set. It went well, a few jokes fell flat so I’ll cut them.

G&B Comedy – 10th April (25th Gig)

What an amazing night G&B comedy is. A large and very friendly crowd. The MC Callum McKenzie was great, I’ve seen him a few times at gigs and he’s always very funny. I did the streamlined Lesbian set and it went really well, I wish they all went this well!

G&B Comedy – 26th April (26th Gig)

Another G&B night, this time at the Arch1 which is much smaller venue but with the same generous and supportive crowd. I did the Lesbian set again, plus I tried out some new jokes that seemed to go really well. It was a great night, so many funny acts on the card, here’s the write up on the G&B website.

The only downside was that it ran a little over and I missed my last train home! It was bound to happen eventually. So it was a very costly night staying up in London.

I have 5 gigs lined up for next month. Two at G&B which I’m really looking forward to and then another 3 shows booked. All as preparation for a new act competition in June.
